I just read a travelling blog about my beloved city: Los Angeles, by Sarah Mould title “City of Angels?—(EYE opener). I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but sometimes it’s not need and it hurts. I’m a true Los Angeles girl- From South Central LA. If I had it my way I would be back living in Los Angeles. I was there during the riots, the Rodney King beating, the OJ riding in his bronco. For tacos, the good and the bad. I’m down for the pound. To 2Pac, Snoop Dogg Too Short and Kendrick Lamar. To Late nights on Crenshaw.
Most of what I am today was made from my experiences in my hometown.
I got saved right on the streets of LA. I went to church Full Gospel Community Prayer Center, school -James A. Foshay and work in LA. I met some great people there that showed me what loyalty is. I had my first love is there and breakup. My sisters and dad are there. My mother died there. LA is home.
To be honest I feel sad for when the time comes that I might not even be able to have my child born as an Los Angelos. Can I split my child up like it’s race half North Carolina/Los Angeles.
With all this said Hollywood paints a false picture of Los Angeles when seen on TV or in the Movies sometimes. Hollywood is a block packed with everyone false wants. Hollywood is protected by Movie Stars, homeless people and tourists. That is the reality. It has lost it better days now covered in smog and lost dreams.Stolen hopes of fame. It can take the very best of a person and turn you into damage goods if you let it.
For those who have dreams of making Los Angeles your home. I will give you some tips:
- Do your research- There is more to CA: Los Angeles than Hollywood. You will be disappoint if you’re looking for what you seen on TV or Movies.
- Homelessness is a big issues -Downtown (Skid row), Hollywood- as this is a big issues everywhere.
- We do get rain– Hey rain is our winter, so we get it. P.S we get snow too just in the mountain areas.
- It can be expensive- just like anywhere else, refer to step 1 or use Groupon. (My husband and I use Groupon just about on every trip we take, state, city we can. We even used it for Our honeymoon to the DR last year. SO YEAH we LOVE it.)
- Most of All have YOUR experience. Not the movies, not Love and Hip Hop( most of the cast not even from CA- but hey that’s another story.)
CA is kind over all you just have to find your sweet spot.
