Waiting for your earthly husband

Singer Fantasia did an interview with MadameNorie title “Fantasia Talks Power of Spiritual Fasting & Getting Husband Back” during the interview Fantasia talks about the calling God has on her life, how she is honoring the call the way she feels the Lord is leading her.

She also talks about how she fasted and prayed seven months before meeting and marrying her husband. Before hearing her testimony, I thought I was alone in my thoughts about dating God while waiting for my earthly husband.

Is there such a thing as Dating God?

There is because it’s called Marriage.  Isaiah 54:5 says “For your Maker is your husband–the LORD Almighty is his name–the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer; he is called the God of all the earth.”

According to God whom I serve, the maker of Indigo (I have to make this thing personal, I had to insert my name here) was my husband before I got married. The thing about dating God was a process of seeking God out for myself like Fantasia, I fasted, and prayed. During this courtship with the LORD, I enter a courtship with myself.

Dating God is not a thought but an action that is created through the pursuit that God had for me. The word of God says that I’m valuable therefore God’s love is everlasting and his loving-kindness has drawn me to him (Jeremiah 31:3)

To become a wife, I first had to learn how to be submissive to God. To understand the role that was created for me.  I had to understand what I was being called to do. Marriage is an intimate relationship between a husband and wife built on the intimacy between self and God. How could I be the woman I was created to be for my husband if I haven’t first sought out a relationship with God?

Dating God

As my walk increased during my nine-month courtship, God’s unconditional love reach the intimacy parts of my mind, body, and soul healing the very essence that cause bitterness in me in the first place. Things that I was holding on too, God’s love healed me from them.

Transforming me into a woman ready to become a wife through his fulfillment of a healthy and better me.  As I became nearer to God, he became nearer to me. (James 4:8) Dating God became the example of what I place in a husband. I was able to think highly of myself and understand the value I would offer to my husband as his wife.

Benefits of Dating God

The benefits I gained while dating God were: Trust place in God is never misplace. I no longer was leaning on my understanding (Proverbs 3:5). Because God healed me, help to shape the value in myself. I was able to set realistic standards for myself. I was able to wait on God’s timing easier than before putting my worries of not getting married to rest because I was married to God’s will for me.

I became less focus on my desire to of getting married. My courtship with God had taught me that he was my supplier and that his promises would not return empty to me (Isaiah 55:11). God took my insecurities turning them into confidence through prayer for my husband before I even met him. Dating God gave me quality time with God, strengthen my prayer life, developing goals for myself while submitting to the will of God. Therefore before my Husband, dating God was the best relationship I ever had.
